LEADERSHIP & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Youth Action Council

Envision Community Services is in the process of assembling a Youth Action Council (YAC) to serve as a voice for positive change across the southwest side community areas served.

ECS staff has launched a sports program to identify and recruit prospective members of the council; every Wednesday at West Lawn Park, ECS holds sports tournaments for youth ages 10-16+ (volleyball is currently being offered).

As the program generates more participants, ECS will identify youth who are interested in becoming civically engaged and wish to bring about positive change in their community. The Youth Action Council will be made up of 7 boys and 7 girls, representing 7 different districts.

Once assembled, the Youth Action Council will deploy a community needs assessment, surveying youth on the change they wish to see in their community. Once the survey data is collected and analyzed, the Youth Action Council will begin to address these needs and convene to strategize potential solutions.

Contact Tracing

At Envision Community Services (ECS), we are committed to empowering underserved communities through outreach, working to ensure south side communities serve as a safe living and working environment for individuals to thrive.

We are an organization working with the City of Chicago Department of Public Health via their COVID-19 contact tracing program. ECS has hired a group of invested community members who are trained contact tracers; their duty is to call and inform those who have possibly been exposed to COVID-19, as well as ensuring that individuals have access to resources- be it a safe place to quarantine, access to food, testing, and medical care. All data collected is completely confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the Department of Public Health.

We ask that the public be aware of this development, stay vigilant, and to PLEASE ANSWER YOUR PHONE if the caller ID displays “ChiContactCorps.” The purpose of the call is to deliver important health information with the intent of keeping you and those around you safe.

If we work together, we can put a stop to the spread of COVID-19 and “flatten the curve” within the greater Chicago community, as well as on a nationwide scale.

We will be posting updates on the current pandemic/ the contact tracing program, as well as helpful information and resources.

Stay safe and healthy.
